The Diploma is offered in a partnership involving the Robben Island Museum, the University of the Western Cape and the University of Cape Town.

Fees
The cost of the diploma will be set within the fees
structure for post-graduate studies at UWC and UCT.
Participants who wish to enrol for any of the Robben
Island Training Programme elective modules should
enquire about board and lodging costs.
Bursaries
Robben Island Training Programme bursaries for board
and lodging will be available for a limited number of
students. The majority of these will be awarded to South
African affirmative action candidates already working in
the heritage sector. Other Bursaries may become available
for candidates already registered for the diploma. Those
interested in applying can obtain the relevant forms from
the Graduate School of Humanities, UCT. Successful
bursary candidates will be notified only after they have
been accepted for the diploma.
Learning facilities & venues
The two main resource nodes for the Diploma will be
the libraries at the Hiddingh Campus of UCT and the
Robben Island Resource Centre. Participants will also
have access to the main libraries at UWC and UCT. Heritage
institutions in, or close to, the “Company Gardens”
will be used as venues for the core course activities. The
Robben Island Training Programme elective modules will
be based in the Education Precinct on Robben Island.
The Electives offered by UWC and UCT will be located
on the respective campus.

All Applicants will be required to complete a written
assignment as part of their application submission. Details
concerning this assignment will be posted out with the
application forms.
